This looks like something Jeff Minter might cook up! You control a smiley face that absorbs energy from a spinning orb below you. At first, I thought that the other orb (which goes from left to right of the screen) sent you to the next level, hence the background changing, but it takes your lives away as indicated by the top-right of the screen. I'm not sure what happens if your energy gets high enough...

Released by Computronic 1987/09-10 and created by Ulrich Mühl.

TRANS:
"With a small smiley you go hunting for points this time! It all depends on a lot of patience and responsiveness.

The Tonicians strike again! This time, however, they came up with something special. Since they have now realized that humanity cannot be destroyed with a fleet of space, they have allied themselves with the high priests of the Woolomoolo order. Together they want to strike a fatal blow against humanity. To do this, they want to use the Megabouncers, a type of demon that has been considered extinct for 728 years.

Since the Tonicians do not easily believe what a person tells them, they arranged a demonstration of the Megabouncers with the priests. Some completely preserved temple complexes of priceless value are to be destroyed. Of course, in the military base you knew Dr. Beuermann, already informed. Immediately sent there to an agent with special equipment: namely you!

It is now a matter of withdrawing the energy from the Megabouncer by means of the energy absorber (smiley), so that they become worthless for the Tonicians. Favorably, the W.-Priestler have already placed the Megabouncers at the respective demonstration sites and tied them up with an energy regulator (circular, it is in the lower center of the screen) which takes the Megabouncers' power away."
