We know you’ve been eager to enter the Holofield and claim your spot on the leaderboard, but before you get into the action, let's take a moment to go over the basics.
Once you boot up the game, you’ll be greeted by our main menu. Here, you use L1 and R1 to navigate between menus. We highly suggest that you check out the options menu and set comfort and handedness settings to your liking before you start playing. You won’t be able to do this while in game, so if you would like anything changed, you’ll need to travel back to the main menu.
While in the main menu, you can also visit the codex which has the latest news, patch notes, information on controls, and info on how to play. There is also a menu option to check out the latest challenge; these are timed objectives, that when completed, will earn you some in-game cosmetic items. To top it all off, we also have a customization section where you can personalize your Athlon.
From the main menu you can also set up a squad and invite your friends to join you on the Holofield. All you have to do is navigate over to the squad menu & once there, click the invite button. Next you’ll just need to pick your buddies & wait for them to join you in the game. Once everybody is ready to go, hold the X button to enter matchmaking. If you’re not in a squad, you can enter matchmaking from within pretty much every menu by holding down the X button.
Once you’ve made it through matchmaking, you’ll enter the pre-match warm up. Here you’ll get a chance to explore the map, pick up weapons, and take down opponents as you wait for the lobby to fill. Once the lobby fills or 5 minutes passes with enough active players, you will be transported to the starting area and a 10 second match countdown timer will begin. Once that countdown reaches 0, it’s game on.
Ok, let's go over the basics of how to play. The main goal is to hold the control point and earn 30 points or have a higher score than the opposing team before the 5 minute timer ends. Every 30 seconds the point will move to another location, so you’ll need to stay on your toes and work as a team if you want to come out victorious. As you move through the map, you’ll find weapon, utility, health, and armor pickups at your disposal. All you need to do is walk over them, and you’ll pick them up, just remember that you don’t need to reload, but all weapons other than your starter pistol have a finite amount of ammo.
Oh and one pro tip, always try to have full armor and a nice weapon before attempting to take the point. Now that you understand the basics, I think it’s time for some offworld combat. If you need more information about the controls, maps, or weapons, check out some of the other videos we have linked below. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you on the holofield!
