We'll Figure Out Our Combo When We Get There
The new Live Twin field has great music, it turns out.
00:00 - 00:25 - Opponent's Deck (Mathmech)
00:25 - 01:25 - Turn 1& 2: Oh it's gonna be one of these games
01:25 - 01:40 - Turn 3: hmm guess I'll pop off-
01:40 - 01:47 - ROACH JUMPSCARE
01:47 - 02:30 - New plan:I don't know what I'm doing
02:30 - 03:25 - Turn 4: Mind Crush
A pretty basic example of Tearlaments showing off what it can do, even in the face of bad hands and interruption. If my opponent had a stronger turn 1 it would have been waaay worse, but the two of us both drew pretty terribly to start.
Turn 1 and 2 sees both of us essentially fail to start our combos off; I also don't get enough information to know exactly what my opponent's on. Turn 3, my opponent blows half their LP negating the wrong effect on Reinoheart, then tries to Maxx C to cover for their mistake. Maxx C will let them draw a card every time they special summon, it's too much advantage for me to go full combo after that. So I settle in for playing simply and just self-milling as much as I can.
I don't actually know what those mills will get me, I'm just going on vibes. They end up letting me tutor a trap from deck, and the trap I pick will both disrupt my opponent and give me a chance to fusion summon on their turn. That's great! When their monster is flipped face down it won't have a type, attribute, or level anymore, making it almost impossible to use as a resource for a higher level summon.
During their turn, I spring my trap. Down goes one of their cards, and I get El Shaddoll Winda, a powerful floodgate. Now they get ONE special summon for the entire rest of the turn, unless they clear her - a death sentence for the normal Mathmech combo.
They end up using their only special summon getting out more resources, instead of something that can clear Winda. That locks them out of continuing to combo, and on my turn I'll have lethal. On realizing their mistake, they surrender.
Opponent's first 7 cards had:
Effect Veiler
Firewall Defenser
Solemn Judgement
Maxx C
Mathmech Diameter
Nibiru, The Primal Being
Called by The Grave
Of those, Diameter and Defenser are the only ones that can start their combo. Rough time, buddy.
Apologies for the quality, my recording came out a little scuffed for some reason.
