Would a party be the same if it didn’t have balloons? That’ll soon be a reality as some scientists expect the natural supply of helium will run out within 25-30 years without severe rationing.
It’s a slippery gas, and once it gets out in the air, it’s light enough to escape gravity forever. So it’s not surprising that helium prices have risen up four to five times at party stores, and it’s not like we have other options, as we learned 100 years ago. But the real issue is that Helium is REQUIRED for certain medical and tech applications, Like launching space rockets, cooling MRI machines, and manufacturing fiber optic cables and high-tech chips. Worse yet is that many of these are centralized in specific countries, with Russia just getting access to Ukraine’s helium and other noble gas producing plants, giving it upwards of a 95% market share for some of these important gasses. And it’s expected that within 100 years, we’ll run out of stuff like Gold, Indium, and Zinc too. But does that really matter cause….
