Evil Islands is a Russian game from the turn of the century. It's essentially the third game in the Allods series (after Rage of Mages and Rage of Mages 2). The hero, Zak, will utilise a combination of stealth, magic and good old fashioned combat skills to achieve his goals and, unlike the first two Rage of Mages games, this one actually has some stealth mechanics!
Zak awakes in a strange land with no memory of who he is. Hopefully the locals can help him although he also seems to be some sort of chosen one foretold by prophesies. Of course he remembers none of this but he's got to deal the hand fate's dealt him. Perhaps he can be the hero this land needs.
