What Far Cry 3 Taught Me About Life, Anxiety, Positivity and Creativity
I'm not a mental health professional and this is very personal to my own creative anxiety, but I hope it can apply to you too. Like a lot of people, I’m having to do my work lately. Mental health, creativity, all that good stuff. I recently stumbled over an analogy between stealthing camps in Far Cry 3 and my approach to my own mental health.
The analogy is that all the preparation and all the hope in the world doesn’t amount to much unless you’re willing to make one brave, affirmative step. You gotta turn up and you gotta do the work.
There’s always a bit in every stealth game where you need to take AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. That bit where you need to leave the safety of the shadows and go for a guy who's just slightly out of reach. When I research and write my videos, I always hope in some way that what I’m writing about resonates with someone, or is well-received. But the bottom line is I never know for sure if my plan will work. Hope is an important factor, but success always hinges on me taking that one brave step.
FWIW I don't rate income, views, likes or subscribers as success. What I'm talking about is progress. Small, measurable successes by being brave. Turning up and doing the work. Finding success in the moment-to-moment action. The real success is in the doing.
