What if Southampton signed the real George Weah instead of his ‘cousin’?
Now this one is a bit of a leap, I’ll admit. Graeme Souness signed what he believed to be the cousin of Ballon d’Or winner George Weah in the mid-90s. For Southampton it was a coup and, as it turned out, so it was for Ali Dia, who has no resemblance of George Weah, either in his footballing ability or in his bloodline. Dia made one sub appearance and was quickly shuffled off to the side, never playing for the club again.
