In the next one to ten thousand years, the influential cosmologist said, the chances of disaster on planet Earth will rise to a near certainty, but it will take more than a century to set up civilizations in space where human beings could live among the stars.
Hawking states during the lecture that it could be possible to fall into a black hole and arise in another universe. But he added that it would have to be a massive, spinning black hole, and it would not be possible to move back to our own universe.
