Professor Reuven Feuerstein was the Founder and Chairman of the Feuerstein Institute. A clinical, developmental and cognitive psychologist, Professor Feuerstein was renowned for his groundbreaking work in demonstrating that intelligence is not fixed but modifiable. In 1992, Professor Feuerstein was awarded the Israel Prize for Social Sciences. In 2012, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Feuerstein Method is a unique educational technique developed by world-renowned psychologist Reuven Feuerstein. It is a process-based approach, focusing on developing the vitally important, and often overlooked, the skill of learning how to learn, subsequently tapping into an individual’s latent intellectual capabilities.

The Feuerstein Method is based on Feuerstein’s theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability (SCM). The theory suggests that in order to create a systemic change, the individual requires intervention via human mediation; a fundamental shift in how the learner is taught to process and interact with information across all aspects of their lives. This process is called the Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) and is implemented through two applied systems: the Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD) and Instrumental Enrichment (FIE). Together, these systems seek to assess, intervene and develop the learner’s skills.
