The Gamestop rise was started back in September 2019 by a reddit user who purchased call options for around $60,000. This rose to around $1m when a large number of other users decided to join suit, quickly sending that first users position to over $10,000,000.
The large institutions are betting that Gamestop, AMC and other companies are going to fail and that people are going to lose their jobs. The WallStreetBets Reddit decided that this is imoral and must be stopped.
The whole reddit clubbed together to purchase up all the GME Stock, causing a short squeeze. As these institutions were betting against these stocks, with borrowed money, their positions quickly became worthless and they had to borrow more to support the trade.
When these trades go bad, the funds will have to purchase back all those shares, causing a short squeeze and the price to rocket. However, this entire event isn't about us, the little guys, making money, its about sticking it to the man.
In terms of Nio, an analyst from Nomura increased their Nio Stock Price Target to $80, based on the potential success of BaaS, Battery As A Service.
This could keep Nio above XPeng, Li Auto's and could mean that they would rival tesla, as this service differentiates them from the crowd and keeps the 'mileage' put through the batteries, low.
Deliveries are on the up, and could mean that Nio is delivering 300,000 vehicles by the end of 2021.
