In the next 5 years, Peter Rawlinson, Lucid Motors CEO, wants to be selling hundreds of thousands of vehicles in the Mid $40,000 price point. Its a big change from the path that they're currently on and I think Lucid Motors need to be careful not to lose their edge.
Lucid currently have something that makes them unique by creating Luxury, Prestige vehicles. Rather than competing directly with Tesla, Lucid should stay unique.
Peter also wants Lucid Motors to be helping the big automakers sell $25,000 mass market EVs, which could be a really good revenue stream for Lucid and help them build Economies of Scale.
Peter also may have just accidentally leaked the CCIV merger on an interview with CNBC, where he struggled over his words and had very positive body language.
His body language showed a happy man, as if a deal was done, not a stressed man with a billion dollar deal falling apart around him.
Nio have also just released their price points for the ET7 sedan range of vehicles, which is very competitive, their cheapest and most expensive models are only around $8,500 apart, which is a world of difference compared to Tesla and Lucid Motors.
Nio have also just announced an $850m buyback from the chinese government, who, back in April, purchased around 24.1% of Nio for $1bn, this gives Nio more autonomy over their own decisions.
