🔵 What is Paging in the OS?
Paging is a storage method that enables the OS to recover processes in the form of pages from the secondary storage and place them in the main memory. The Paging technique divides the main memory into discrete frames, or tiny fixed-size physical memory blocks.
⁍ Paging Protection
The idea of inserting a second bit termed a Valid/Invalid bit should be used to secure the paging process. Paging By associating protection bits with each page in paging, memory protection is accomplished. These bits, which determine protection on the relevant page, are connected to each item in the page table.
⁍ Benefits of Paging
Memory management strategy that is simple to use
External Fragmentation is not required.
It is simple to switch between pages and page frames of the same size.
⁍ Drawbacks of Paging
Internal fragmentation could result.
Page tables require more memory.
Memory referential overhead might result from multi-level paging.
