What it REALLY Means to Be "Sonic 4"
The classic sonic games on Sega Genesis are some of the most acclaimed 2d platformers of all time; And for as long as they have existed, people have always held them in extremely high regard (and for good reason). However, all of these games are now around 30 years old and in those 30 years there have been quite a few 2D Sonic games that have attempted to capture that same magic! The most infamous example of this was when Sega released Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 in 2010, and everybody and there mother absolutely despising it! However, i'd like to think it's because of how colossal of a failure that game was that sparked a lot of conversation about what games were considered the "TRUE" Sonic 4! I thought that since Sonic Superstars is only a few weeks away, what better time could it be to look at a few examples of 2D sonic games that people generally consider to be the "TRUE" Sonic 4, and see how well they go about doing so!
Enjoy!
