Bridgeton may loop beautiful and perfect on screen, but the reality is, it wasn’t always a delight for the actors behind the scenes. As with any major production a lot of work has to be put in and the actors have to rise to the occasion to bring the absolute best they can to screen.
The actors appeared to effortlessly ride horses, play complex piano, dance traditionally in perfect time and behave the way any posh debutante would - but did these actors have the skills before? What viewers see on screen is actually thanks to rigorous training and very high expectations from the production team. While a lot of time was spent filming, a very large portion of the work happened before in what we might call “Bridgerton Bootcamp.”
Beyond learning years worth of skills and etiquette, the actors also had some struggles to endure. The costumes were a major point of difficulty. One actor even got a scary injury as a result of the restrictive clothing!
The series has been noted for its diverse casting which sees incredible actors in leading roles that may not have typically been casted in these types of period-dramas before. While it’s exciting to see such strong actors on screen, there has been controversy surrounding those choices that the cast has had to face. How about the very sensual scenes? The struggle to become mentally prepared for shooting those private scenes with a whole crew was no small feat.
We’re covering all the struggles the cast went through while filming that will change the way you see the series from now on!
