What Makes a Good Roguelike?
150It's hard to talk about an entire genre based on a handful of games, but in this video I use what I would consider some great examples of Roguelikes, a unique Roguelike that works well, and a Roguelike that has most of the right elements, but one out of place mechanic. In hindsight, this video is also partially a small critique of Undermine - I wanted the game to be my next favorite Roguelike and while its been a fun game to play, some of its core mechanics seem to bother me a fair bit, especially since the time spent developing these aspects could have also gone into places like unique and interesting items to add to the game.
