Epic Games and Apple have been locked in a public conflict for the last couple of weeks, but this didn't just come out of nowhere. This is a conflict that has been brewing for a while. Apple's policies have had Epic disgruntled, and the latter has publicly spoken out against them before.

Until very recently, the developer was going along with those policies regardless – which is not surprising, given how much revenue Fortnite on iOS brings for them – but midway through August, things changed.
