Back In 2012 Sweet Brown became an overnight internet celebrity after an interview she gave to a local Oklahoma news station went viral on YouTube. She had become an accidental star from a news report, in a fashion similar to Antoine Dodson. Her catchphrase “Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That!” has become famous worldwide. While people becoming living memes due to some sort of television outtake is nothing new, in the early 2010’s this was a relatively new phenomena. Those who were granted with meme stardom would often try to convert newfound attention into entertainment careers. Most of the time they fail, but Sweet Brown is an example of someone who was able to earn a handsome profit from her living meme status. Today I tell the story of how Sweet Brown and her “Ain’t nobody got time for that” catchphrase spread online, and how she made money off of the meme.
