What’s the real difference between challenging and frustrating games? | Sonic 3 Vs DKC Revisited
29Way back in December we put out a video comparing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles - for the SEGA Genesis - against Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo. We wanted to examine which of the Christmas 1994 heavyweights was, in our opinion, the better game.
This, of course, was a controversial video and we were challenged on a few points, especially our assertion that Sonic 3 and Knuckles is a more “frustrating” game. The obvious retort is that it’s a “skill issue”…..but is it? And what’s the difference between a game being very hard, or merely being frustrating? We explore this question, in detail, in this video.
