Wheel of Fortune (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Gametek's 1992 license-based game show game for the Sega Genesis, Wheel of Fortune.
This video shows two different games. The second begins at 13:45.
The Genesis Wheel of Fortune game shipped alongside the SNES version (https://youtu.be/9PxPN7TuVWs ) in early fall of 1992, and they're both pretty much the same game. Both were based on the original Wheel of Fortune Featuring Vanna White for NES (https://youtu.be/yspikWMYt0w ), released nine months prior.
The graphics are still bright and colorful, the digitized speech is surprisingly clean and clear, and the Genesis game's music sounds much less like a funeral dirge than the SNES's one did. Unique to the Genesis game is an options menu that allows you to change things like difficulty level, the controller each player will use, and the speed of the timers. Owing to the differences in hardware, the Genesis's digitized photos look pretty rough and the full-screen spinning wheel animation has been cut.
In other words, the two 16-bit versions are virtually identical to one another in both quality and content. You get the same puzzle banks, the same Hobbit-like Vanna sprite tottering across the stage, and the same silly looking character avatars.
(I have to say that it creeped me out a bit during that second game. I figured I'd go incognito for game two by making my character a woman named Marisol. However, the fairies that live inside the cartridge seemed to see through my deception and recreated me as an AI-controlled avatar for player two. Creepy. )
And is it just me, or does that digitized still that I used for the screenshot make anyone else think of Lethal Enforcers?
