When F-15 Streak Eagle Made a World Record And Surpassed Even SR-71 Blackbird In 1975 #shorts
On February 1, 1975, the F-15 "Streak Eagle" completed the eighth time-to-climb record in a span of 17 days. But it ultimately broke the previous seven records when it achieved the eighth record. The F-15 Streak Eagle climbed to a height of 98,425 feet or 30,000 meters in only 207 seconds, or 3 minutes, 27 seconds. It exceeded the ceiling of the renowned SR-71 Blackbird by 13,000 feet. However, the Streak Eagle carried on and rose to an altitude of 103,000 feet before beginning to drop. The Streak Eagle was significantly altered for this mission in order to lighten it as much as possible. They removed all extra parts, including weapons, radar systems, tail hooks, etc. While refusing to paint, the aircraft saved an additional 40 pounds. It was flown with its original metal coating. With all of these changes, the aircraft was around 1,800 pounds lighter than the F-15 that was produced in standard production. The F-15 Streak Eagle is currently on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.
