When Gotham City Drowned (Batman: Zero Year: Part 4)
Hey everyone! Arden returns with his coverage of Zero Year, this time focusing on a heap of Batman tie-ins surrounding character's life as Gotham City is plunged into chaos. With the city on the verge of being hit by a super-storm, the Riddler having unleashed an attack on the power grid, and the newly forged Batman missing in action, expect a lot of twists along the way.
First up, Barbara Gordon in Homestead (Batgirl vol. 4 #25)! Written by Margurite Bennet, pencilled by Fernando Pasarin, inked by Jonathan Glapion, coloured by Blond, lettered by Dezi Sienty, and edited by Mike Marts and Katie Kubert. Here, long before Barbara became Batgirl, Barbara is tasked by her father GCPD lieutenant James Gordon tasks her with looking after her home, and younger brother James Gordon, Jr. With flooding imminent, Barbara must navigate uncertain waters with a new friend named Henry.
Then, in Green Lantern Corps vol. 3 #25, John Stewart, as a marine, is tasked with evacuating civilians from Gotham's Seaside Coliseum, only to run afoul of the Batman villain called Anarky. Written by Van Jensen and Robert Venditti, pencilled by Victor Drujiniu, Ivan Fernandez, and Allan Jefferson, inked by Juan Castro and Rob Lean, coloured by Garry Henderson, lettered by Dave Sharpe, and edited by Chris Conry and Matt Idelson.
After that, Jason Todd stars in Red Hood and the Outlaws vol. 1 #25, in a flashback story where he runs into the likes of Red Hood One, Talia al'Ghul, and more! Written by James Tynion IV, art by Jeremy Haun, coloured by John Kalisz, lettered by Taylor Esposito, and edited by Rickey Purdin and Eddie Berganza.
In the next part, Batwoman vol. 2 #25, written by Marc Andreyko, pencilled by Trevor McCarthy, Andrea Mutti, Patrick Olliffe, and Jim Fern, inked by McCarthy, Jay Leisten, and Tom Nguyen, coloured by Guy Major, lettered by Todd Klein, and edited by Marts and Darren Shan. Kate Kane visits Gotham to attend the funeral of her uncle, Philip Kane, only to get caught up in the fallout of Hurricane Rene.
Finally, Birds of Prey vol. 3 #25, Dinah Drake, on her long road towards becoming Black Canary, is running a dojo in Gotham's Badlands. However, she faces a lot of opposition - local gangs, the blackout, and endless swarms of ninjas! Written by Christy Marx, pencilled by Romano Molenaar, Daniel Sampere, and Scott McDaniel, inked by Glapion and Vincente Cifuentes, coloured by Chris Sotomayor, lettered by Dezi Sienty, edited by Marts, Shan, and Rachel Gluckstern.
