Today we are going to talk about Brother Voodoo, later known as Doctor Voodoo, real name Jericho Drumm, who gained the powers of voodoo magics and became possessed by his brother, Daniel. After a bunch of comics from the late 1970s and early 1980s, Brother Voodoo kind of faded from the public eye for most of the 1980s, so we cover his return to comics as he reunites with both Moon Knight and Dr. Strange in two independent stories. With, by this point, the basics of the Comics Code Authority being abandoned, there was a lot more that could be done with this character, for better or worse, and a lot to talk about because of it.

First up is Marc Spector: Moon Knight #6 from 1989. This story, "One Hand in the River" is written by major 90s comic book writer Chuck Dixon, pencilled by Sal Velluto, inked Mark Farmer, coloured by Mark Chiarello, lettered by Ken Lopez, and edited by Carl Potts and Marc McLaurin. Here, Brother Voodoo reunites with Moon Knight and his companion Frenchie after Brother Voodoo is captured by the Culto de Muerte and forcibly turned into a zombie-like creature called a zhambi. When the Cult teams up with a gang leader named El Brutale, a zombie gang war begins in New York City! This story is concluded in "Zombie Saturday Night," as depicted in Marc Spector: Moon Knight #7, which features the same creative team as issue #6. Here, the leader of the Culto, Doctor Friday, along with Senor Brutale is confronted by Moon Knight, a new hero named Midnight, and a powerless, gun-weilding Jericho Drumm.

Then we move on to "Love and Haiti," as covered by Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #16, from 1990. Written by Roy and Dann Thomas, art by Jackson Guice, additional inks by Tony Dezuniga, colouring by Gregory Wright, lettered by Janice Chiang, and edited by Ralph Macchio. Here, Doctor Strange returns, seeking Brother Voodoo's aid against Marie Laveau and Stephen Strange's own borther Victor Strange, a vampire who has taken up the identity of Baron Blood. Joined with Strange's allies, Morgana Blessing, Rintrah, and the living vampire known as Morbius, Jericho Drumm aids them in seeking out the villain to stop Laveau from creating a new vampire plague! This continues in issues #17 and #18 of Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme. Issue #17, "Torn on the Bayou" features the same writers and editor, pencils by Jim Valentino, inks by Tony DeZuniga, colouring by George Roussos, and lettering by Jade Moede, features the return of Bambu as Marie takes Morgana hostage in Brother Voodoo's home. Issue #18, "Blood is Thicker...," once again features the same Marvel writers and editor, pencils by Jackson Guice, inks by Tony DeZuniga, colouring by Christie Scheele, and lettering by Janice Chiang. Issue eighteen concludes the vampire story line as Morbius and Brother Voodoo are forced to challenge the Sorcerer Supreme himself over a deadly and dangerous decision.

Finally, we will cover one of the worst books Arden has read in some time. "Don't Do That Voodoo You Do Do So Well," as featured in the 1990 comic Marvel Super-Heroes Vol. 2 #1 is written by Scott Lobdell, pencilled by Fred Hembeck, inked by Dell Barras, coloured by Mike Rockwitz, lettered by Todd Klien, and edited by Mark Gruenwald. In this story, Brother Voodoo grieves a loss and the weakening of his powers with his love interest Loralee Tate in Haiti, who has been whitewashed for some reason, and everything gets a little... creepy.
