So recently I bought this fun little game called "Unrailed!" to play with a friend. It's a cool little party game where you build a train track infront of a slowly moving train, carving through the landscape ahead to make sure it doesn't crash.

It's pretty fun, and I'd highly recommend you buy it if it ever goes on sale. But while playing this game we quickly realised that something interesting was happening.

As we got better at the game, we became less invested in playing. Things started going well. They were going TOO well. And suddenly we were bored. The chaos of trying to juggle all of the action at once was what made the game exciting, but once we'd gotten a grip on what our roles should be we got bored fairly rapidly.

The more skill we had, the less fun we had.

This exists in a lot of other games, like Overcooked, Overcooked 2, and Tools up! but how do other party games, like Mario Party, avoid falling into such a trap?
