When should you bug out? There are many examples to bugging out from an area, but not all situations warrant an immediate evacuation.
Lines of migration, the Golden horde, masses of people leaving when shtf can negate your plans of a quick get away from danger.
It is impossible to plan for every contingency, but that being said, you should have a few plans ready to use. Sheltering in place may be an option ... for a time. Relocating from one area to another to evacuation zones may also be an option.
The type of catastrophe and information available will be factor in how choose to act. Being in a position to make decisions quickly and efficiently will be key to surviving the initial danger.
