Kam'lanaut has a smug look on his face as if he was the one who did something great. I thought 'Why is he grinning like that?'. Before I could even say anything towards his smug face, his other buddy, Seifer appeared and just slashed randomly towards the mechanical birds. Kam'lanaut, still with his smug face, joined him soon after. I think he is having fun but I don't think they're even doing anything towards the birds. To me, they're just randomly swinging about before making a X mark on the ground. This is ridiculous. Why are they putting an X mark on the ground?

I, Rem and the birds are just looking at them quizzically. Confused at their actions, they seem to have been exhausted and stopped. Seifer, with a grin, disappeared and just like that, the battlefield became quiet. I turned my gaze towards Kam, and he seems content with what he has done. He returned his gaze to us, a smug still visible on his face. We just stared at each other for what felt like a long time, but in reality, just a few seconds elapsed. Then his mouth finally moved and I heard him clearly, 'My job here is done'. He's grinning like he has done the most useful thing in the world.

I looked at him with utter disbelief. Mouth open, I tried to analyze what happened in my brain. I was confused. They barely made a scratch! What is he grinning about?! After cursing him in my mind for a few times, I snapped out of it and looked at Rem. Her face was still in shock, mouth agape. Then an awkward smile formed on her face and then looked at me while scratching her cheeks. I can't blame her though. The ridiculous sequence that happened just a while ago can just do that to you. Even the mech birds didn't move, probably in confusion.

I had a deep sigh and looked at Rem again. We gave each other a slight nod. I'm sure we have formed the same idea on what to do. I have —no. We have to do this ourselves.

I called in my buddy Cid Raines for air support telling Rem to get ready for all the air strike we'll be doing while Kam was still just standing there with a grin. I chose to just ignore him or I'll be crazy. I went on an attacking spree. I was like a madman —maybe I turned into one. I did all my best to destroy the mech birds and once I was exhausted Rem swapped with me. She summoned Ifrit to help us while I was recovering. Cid Highwind also sent out airstrikes from the airship. After a few more moments, the mechanical birds finally went down.

We were exhausted. I fell to my knees as my strength waned. We gave it our all. Finally, the trial is over. And just as I was standing up, I saw his figure. Kam'lanaut. He barely moved from his spot! My tired mind and body just wanted to lash out at him but I was just too tired. I'm definitely not taking him with us on the next battle.
