Where I get old games Part 1, Vacs N Videos review in more info area
I'll eventually be going to a few other places and showing where I look for some games.
This is the biggest used games shop in my area. Vac's N Videos. They used to be awesome when it was just a consignment shop...now they're prices compete with eBay but every now and then you find something worth buying. I didn't ask for permission so that's why I just waggle my camera around in a hurried fashion. Maybe someday I'll ask the guy for permission and make an easier to watch video. And show the front half of the store where the very overpriced systems are.
The pros:
- Have games for almost every system you can think of
- Accessaries for almost every system you can think of
- Occasionally good games will be priced well
- Isn't a Gamestop
The Cons:
- Most of the time you can save a few pennies ordering from amazon or ebay plus you won't have to leave your house or look at trashy people.
- Prices for systems are awful, $60 SNES caked in gunk? No thank you. I'll check craigslist instead.
- They used to negotiate on prices, now they check ebay and won't go under its current ebay value. Lame.
- They have sticker price an dspecial VIP price. You pay a one time fee and get a certain percentage off, hate that.
- I heard one of the eomployees say they should implement a re-stocking fee for returned goods, come on could you try any harder to rip people off?
- If they don't have a game they'll "order it for your." I can only imagine they're buying it off ebay and selling it to you for an even more inflated price, lame.
Over all its worth going to. They have a ton of games and are usually about the same price as buying online so you'll get your game faster, but you've got to leave your dank pit game cave of solitude. So definitely know how much the game you want is going for online befor ehanding them any cash. Some times there's a good deal like the $5 copies of Mega Man 2 and 3 I got a few months ago. To be fair they are a business...but compated to ten years ago when you could get ANY nes game for $3 and ANY SNES game for $5 the deals are far and few between. You can blame the surge in "retro" gamings poularity for that though.
