Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is out next week, so let's reflect on FF7 Remake, whose whisper filled meta plot romp was...divisive to say the least. Cloud, Aerith, Sephiroth, even Zack are now attached to possible new fates compared to Final Fantasy 7. Is this a sequel now? The game hits you over the head with destiny and fate threads, while also padding the game 5 hours in between each major memorable plot thread. Sephiroth doesn't even seem to be the same villain anymore! Gamers were unimpressed with how meta and sequel based this game turned out to be, and Shep agrees with the majority on this point. But, Final Fantasy 7 remake DOES do a lot right! Cloud, Tifa and Aerith are fully developed, well cast, and the game allows players to find new relationship building events that attach us to the venerable Final Fantasy 7 cast like never before! The visuals and music are without peer on the PS4, with the soundtrack boasting 150+ tracks of orchestral bliss. What's more, the combat appeals to both turn based and action heavy oriented gamers with one of the most unique and adaptive fighting systems in RPG history! It's just too bad that the unfaithfulness to the original story is what seems to be remembered most. What's your opinion on Final Fantasy 7 remake? What hits and misses did you observe?
