Who Can Propel Global Longevity? I FII PRIORITY Hong Kong
Life-extending innovations currently concentrate in certain advanced economies, but realizing humanity’s longevity potential requires democratizing access to emerging therapeutics globally. OECD data from 2021 revealed that high-income countries, on average, invested over 2% of their GDP in research and development, while many low-income countries invested less than 0.5%, impacting their ability to contribute to life-extending innovations. How can collaborative efforts across borders balance equitable investment, regulation, IP sharing and capacity building to ensure breakthroughs benefit all — instead of widening health divides?
