At E3 2021, a new Final Fantasy spinoff called "Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin" was announced. Cringe ensued.

But maybe it will be better than it looks? Here, I look at the direct reference the trailer makes to the ending text of Final Fantasy I, and consider what it might mean thematically for Stranger of Paradise. Can Jack, the angry, bloodstained, Chaos-hating antihero, become the true Warrior of Light?

(Note that I haven't played the demo, as I don't own a PS5 and hopefully never will. I have watched a playthrough of it.)
