A rehabilitation centre for injured soldiers at Headley Court in Surrey is set to move to a stately home in Leicestershire.

The new £300m Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre will be based at Stanford Hall, near Loughborough and the building work is well underway.

Construction began at the Stanford Hall Estate in 2015 and the new facility is expected to be handed over to the Ministry of Defence in 2018.

The need for rehabilitation centres for injured service personnel became clear after operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The sight of young soldiers with devastating injuries brought home the reality of war for many.

The new Defence Rehabilitation Centre will open its doors long after major combat operations have ceased.

757,805 people served as Regulars in the British Armed Forces between 1991 and 2014.

More than 66,000 of those need medical support now, or will do in the future.

Meaning that one in eleven will need help. Question is, who will benefit?
