Scrub Squadron have a mild disagreement about the proper name for the Falkland Islands!

while they're still on leave officially til Series 2, i felt the need for a little skit as a break from finishing off episode one of Frags Guide To The Falklands. it'll be done in a few days, a week at most, i promise.

historical context for the gags:
Richard Hawkins, English explorer, discovered some islands which *may* have been the Falklands and named them "Hawkins Maidenland" in the 16th century.

the Dutch explorer Sebald de Weert also mapped the area near this time, and christened the far northwest section of the islands the Sebaldes, which today are known as the Jason Islands.

Las Islas Malvinas is the Argentine name for the islands. many Argentine claims center on the Treaty of Tordesillas of 1494, which "granted" most of the New World to Spain after Columbus' journeys.

the French name for the Falklands, Les Iles Malounies, was first coined in the 1700s by their own cartographers. obviously, it is this name from which Las Malvinas originates.

as to Walters comments and the tale of one senor Antonio Rivero, that will have to wait until a future episode, because it's really quite a juicy story.
