Why Cancel Culture is Dying
96Cancel culture seems to finally be losing steam, with the recent attempted cancellation of Awkwafina. Here is my take on why that is stupid, and also ineffective unless the cancellation is for something very serious. But most people don't seem too bothered by Awkwafina's behaviour (using "blaccent"), at least, not enough to warrant cancellation. Yet there is still a push to cancel her.
How would that even be possible when a market for her music still exists? Artists don't need mainstream avenues to market their content these days and we see that with the return of celebrities cancelled in the past couple of years.
I am very qualified to discuss this issue, as I wear a monocle.
