Despite having this incredible power, Karlach is a complex character who is haunted by her past. While serving the masters of Infernus, she remained conscious and not enthralled during all of her heinous acts. So, she struggles to come to terms with the choices she was forced to make. However, she is not a character who is defined by her misfortunes. Rather, she is a character who is constantly striving to be better, to do better, and to make amends for her past actions.

"I never double-classed her because I wanted to find the perfect fit for her character. I experimented with various classes such as monk, thief, and paladin, but none of them resonated with her barbarian tendencies. Finally, I settled on the fighter class, but even then it didn't feel quite right. Ultimately, I decided to let her character and personality guide her class choice, and keeping it organic felt like the best decision. This way, her class and personality would mesh well with my barbarian-bard, Grey Bard."

One of the most interesting things about Karlach is the way she interacts with the other characters in the game. She can be always easy to get along with; however, she can be quite blunt and confrontational at times. Underneath her nuclear exterior, there is a vulnerable side to her that is rarely seen. As players get to know her better, they begin to understand the reasons behind her actions and the motivations that drive her.
