WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE RATS!? | The Secret of Monkey Island (ULTIMATE TALKIE EDITION) #16
15Welcome to my let's play/ playthrough series of The Secret of Monkey Island Ultimate Talkie Edition! This is the original game with original visuals and soundtrack, but the voice acting from the Special Edition! The Secret of Monkey Island is a 1990 point-and-click graphic adventure game developed and published by Lucasfilm Games. It takes place in a fictional version of the Caribbean during the age of piracy. The player assumes the role of Guybrush Threepwood, a young man who dreams of becoming a pirate, and explores fictional islands while solving puzzles. The game was conceived in 1988 by Lucasfilm employee Ron Gilbert, who designed it with Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman. Gilbert's frustrations with contemporary adventure titles led him to make the player character's death almost impossible, which meant that gameplay focused on exploration. The atmosphere was based on that of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme park ride. The Secret of Monkey Island was the fifth game built with the SCUMM engine, which was heavily modified to include a more user-friendly interface.
In this episode, we continue looking around LeChuck's ship and head down to the lower levels! We take a look at the animals and find where LeChuck is keeping the Root! We pick up a Ghost Chicken Feather and use it to tickle the foot of the Sleeping Ghost Pirate! We take his Grog and then head back to LeChuck's Cabin where we use the Magnet on the Key to get it! Then we use the Key to open the Hatch and head down to a rat infested room! Luckily for us, the rats seem to love Grog and drink so much that they pass out! The clears the way for us to get some Grease to use on the Squeaky Door! Inside we find the Brig and some Ghost Tools! We can't attempt to rescue Elaine without the Ghost Killing Potion, so we use the Tools to open the Crate to get the Root and then take it back to the Cannibals! They make the Ghost Killing Spray and we rush back to LeChuck's Ship, but it's gone! Looks like he's gone back to Melee Island to marry Elaine!
