In this video, we delve into the history of World of Warcraft by exploring some 1-star reviews.

As we kick off, we encounter a reviewer who describes the game as a fun experience initially, but quickly devolving into a monotonous grind that's about as enjoyable as being kicked in the head. And oh, the reviewer claims that people who play WoW don't have real friends. I totally don't resemble that remark at all...

But before we dive deeper, let's take a step back to 2004 when World of Warcraft was first released. We often forget the initial reactions to this game that has since captured the hearts of millions. However, this video isn't just about praising WoW; it's about exploring the voices of the early haters and skeptics. Those who were quick to jump on the hate bandwagon even before the controversial Battle for Azeroth or Activision's involvement.

One reviewer, a fan of the Warcraft series and Blizzard's other works, laments that WoW killed a part of their soul. They question the appeal of endlessly repeating quests with different names only to have the cycle reset with each new expansion. Surprisingly, this review was from as early as 2007, just one expansion into the game. Did this reviewer continue playing or ever return to WoW?

Moving on, another reviewer dismisses the hype surrounding WoW, deeming it a dull, repetitive, and unrewarding MMORPG plagued with bugs and other unpleasant surprises. The reviewer even mentions lacking the right words to express their frustration. Well, they certainly wrote a novel of discontent!

We then stumble upon a review that eagerly illustrates the waiting game in WoW. The reviewer highlights the seemingly endless waiting periods, whether it's for logging in, queuing, riding various creatures, or traversing the game world. They argue that Blizzard has mastered the art of addiction, offering small pleasures amidst substantial amounts of pain. Perhaps there's a grain of truth to that observation, much like in real life.

Ah, the next reviewer claims that no one should play WoW, branding it a time-wasting endeavor that becomes unbearable once you reach the endgame. Additionally, they assert that hunters are unfairly disliked in the game's PvP scene, despite being the hardest class to succeed with. Let's just share a laugh and move on, shall we?

According to yet another reviewer, WoW turns players into mindless drones who spend hours upon hours every day waiting, leveling up, and engaging in what they describe as a waiting style of gameplay. They criticize Blizzard for providing small pleasures in exchange for significant amounts of time investment. Well, MMOs do have a way of captivating us with intermittent highs amidst the valleys of frustration, don't they?

The next review highlights the supposed pointlessness of PvP, claiming there are no rewards for engaging in player-versus-player combat. This was actually kind of true early on in WoW, so I wonder what this reviewer would think of WoW pvp today?

Moving on, we encounter a reviewer who quickly grows bored of hunting for seemingly insignificant items and concludes that WoW offers nothing else to do. Little do they realize that vertical progression and the pursuit of better gear is a core aspect of MMORPGs.

We end with a banger of a review that I'll save for the video itself, and of course, some of the early adopters of the game who found their love for it early on. Who found this game to be their new MMORPG home.
