Why I stopped buying games from the Amazon App Store (DRM)
If you're getting the Licence Expired error when launching a game from the Amazon App Store, then it's most likely a DRM (digital rights management) issue.
I encountered this recently when I took my Android tablet away on a trip. The device hadn't accessed the internet in some time, but I was surprised to discover that none of the Apps I purchased from the Amazon App Store would work.
Every single game gave the error:
Licence Expired
We need to refresh the licence for this app that you own, please try again.
My tablet had no access to the internet where I was, so it mean't I could no longer play any of the games I paid for.
I know DRM has been around for a while but most services make it clear what the limitations are. So this was very disappointing.
The games I purchased through Google Play worked fine. So obviously I won't be buying games through the Amazon App Store any more.
