In this video, we're going to investigate the IPC performance of the Ryzen 7 2700x and compare it against Intel's 9th generation I9-9900K processor. While Intel certainly does hold the single thread performance crown, thanks to ST IPC and clock speed, if AMD can close in on the 4.5 GHz mark with Zen 2 and increase IPC between 10 - 15 percent, Intel might be in a world of trouble.
Intel has lots of options, including 10nm and further tweaks to their coffee lake processors and other architectures, but for the here and now, it'll be fascinating to see how Intel responds to AMD's 7NM threat and the Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 5 3600X and other such processors.
