Could the SpaceX Starlink network trigger a space debris cascade? Today we are going to talk about the potential downsides of the proposed SpaceX Starlink network. My last video was of course praising this amazing technology and what it could offer. But, the comment thread was, lets say, a little mixed. Many people are concerned about space debris and the associated Kessler syndrome that could be caused by adding such extensive networks around the earth. This is a very valid concern and one I think that deserves this topic of its own. I’m not so worried by the Starlink network by itself, however when we mix Starlink with the many new proposed satellite constellations, we will need some strict rules in place to stop things getting out of control.
