Take one look at the back of the Nokia 9 PureView and you’ll immediately see that there’s something uniquely different about this phone. It features the world’s first 5 camera array system, with ZEISS Optics, that all work together to create great photos. In this video we take a closer look at the top 5 features of the Nokia 9 camera to see if it’s the best phone to get if smartphone photography is your thing - this is my Nokia 9 PureView camera review.
As you can see on the rear of the phone, the Nokia 9 is rocking a collection of cameras on back in other to take some of the best smartphone photos you’ve ever seen - check out my Nokia 9 PureView camera samples. The hexagon is an interesting look unless you suffer from trypophobia, but even if you do, you’ve gotta give HMD Global props for what they were able to accomplish here. Working together, the five 12MP camera on back are able to collect 10x more light than the typical single best smartphone camera color sensor - the reason why is because two of the cameras are full color RGB, while the other three are monochrome which can take in 2.9x more light, all with an f/1.8 aperture. The end result is you get photos with really nice dynamic range which are able to capture depth and texture detail without crushing the blacks or blowing out the highlights. Color and depth of field are both impressive here, and you’re able to adjust the focus of the photo even after the shot is taken.
You also have the option to natively shoot in true black and white, as well as shoot and edit RAW photos as well.
