I know I'm a little late with my big fat opinion, but I don't throw out my opinions flippantly. This has been something that weighs on me constantly as a game designer, and its a challenge we face CONSTANTLY as developers. Its not as simple as you might think. Elden Ring is a game that COULD ONLY EXIST after several Souls-like games have been released, in order to build the audience and their expectations for what would ultimately result in Elden Ring.
