Why You Can't Enjoy New JRPGs
I hope y'all can take this video in the spirit in which it's intended, a sort of "JRPG Self-Help" on how to get your groove back. In today's video I'm, responding to a /r/jrpg reddit thread from someone who can't enjoy any of the new incredible indies that have been coming out, or even games like Octopath Traveler. At first it sounded like some standard gatekeeping, but eventually it devolved into a more general issue of discontent. And I suspect that it has a lot to do with being unable to accept games for what they ARE and not for what they AREN'T. It's not DEI, it's not localization, it's not politics. JRPGs have changed, but so have you.
