Any GNU/Linux ;D user will tell you that a key part of what makes their OS of choice special is the ability to tailor it to your specific desired look and feel. Which is true; although, no one seems to talk about the potential security benefits of having a system completely different than most others. I mean plenty of people talk about Linux and how it is better for security and privacy. Just not typically in the context of theming or customization. Which I think is a pretty cool niche topic of discussion.
