Why you should not play 极品飞车ONLINE / Need For Speed Edge [China]/ NFSOL (Read Description)
Random online ranked match race gameplay footage recorded on 23/9 before the major performance overhaul for the cars. Right now I'm no longer into this game anymore.
This game isn't all bad especially when considering it's free 2 play and has way better PVP racing format / no. of competitive players than the original NFS Rivals it's based on (and also a non-retarded community on Discord/forums), but in the end the cons still far outweigh the pros.
Reasons are as follows (descending importance):
1. It's a must for foreigners to use a fake mainland Chinese ID (even those from Hong Kong or Macau) for registering a QQ / Tecent (騰訊) account in order to allow for just logging into game/tracking in-game progress, thus u're risking for a ban at anytime under the tight Chinese network security, as few players on Discord/forums already reported such.
2. It's turned into a super grindy game from Rivals, to an extent that only 24/7 no-life can attain fast enough cars to be competitive (which there're quite some in China)
3. (Daily) rewards too plenty and way too hard to track, even more so for those who can't read Chinese. Yes there're multiple community language patches for the game (like the English one ISuckAtDriving (MSWGR) was using in his videos) plus there're full sets of instructions on Discord, but the official Chinese translation from Rivals was sub-par to begin with. Imagine people trying to convert those words back to English Polish or whatever. Besides there're still plenty in-game / 'net rewards displayed as images and can't be translated, and those are the big reward ones. I lost count of how many times MSWGR asked me to translate those b4 he moved to FM7...
4. Horrific handling / drifting physics from Rivals remains.
5. Despite larger variety of cars than Rivals the NFSOL cars resembles absolutely nothing of their real-life counterparts (even worse than Rivals), for Tecent's sole sake of balancing each car's performance in order to accommodate the current lack of classes.
6. Due to sponsorship from Mercedes-Benz, in a Chinese game, be prepared for ludicrously fast Mercs including not just the featured AMG GTR, but also the 300SL in this video and other Merc SUVs.
7. Game is still in "beta" stage despite Tencent not openly admitting it. Tracks are limited, map for freeroam is tiny and the game has just received another major car-performance update on 28/9 which basically ruined everything players been grinding for so far, and more patches are definitely coming as quite some Class-S cars still not even available for usage yet. And because it's fundamentally a Chinese game, expect them to take ages just to actually finish making it.
