I've played Widelands in linux for years now. I finally decided to try in on Windows. It is an absolutely free download. You can play different tribes. In this video I am playing the default - barbarians. Barbarians can hunt meat, catch fish, mine (iron, coal, gold), cut trees into logs, and have boats. I have captured about 3/4 of the available land already. I have rangers replanting trees and gamekeepers to maintain the wildlife (for food). I limited the larger ships in order to try out the ferries. Ferries are smaller and only used to carry goods (no passengers). When you start, you can choose what you want for settings, including what constitutes winning the game. I am playing to win as an aristocrat (must eradicate the other player(s)). The game plays along slowly in my opinion but can be finished in a matter of hours. I play to get my soldiers up to the best level they can reach. The animations are cute, and the game takes some strategy. The music isn't bad. The only thing that holds this game up is the graphics. It is still worth playing, though. It can be downloaded from https://www.widelands.org/ for windows, mac, or linux. I have never tried it, but the game can be played against other players. I think it allows up to 4 players at once, and you can play as teams. If you're wondering what to do I'd recommend trying it.
