In this video, I review two WiFi signal strength apps with visualization mapping using augmented reality (AR), kind of a signal strength 3D heatmap using AR technology.

The first one is WiFi ARCore (Wi-Fi AR) by Wi-Fi Solutions that allow you to test the wireless network signal strength for either the Wi-Fi or 3G/LTE networks. You can choose the distance between measuring, the height, and the data point size. You can measure the signal, best AP, MCSPing and AP No. as well as see interfering WiFi networks (run WiFi interference test). A useful app to where to put WiFi extenders in your house by visualizing what parts of the house are being reached by the router and where the signal is being blocked.

The second signal strength mapping app for Android is the AR Sensor by Ken Kawamoto. This is an AR visualizer app that allows you to collect and see various spatial sensor data like magnetic strength, Bluetooth connectivity strength but also among others, Wifi signal strength. This is a new Android app that was released on January 3, 2019.

Great apps to troubleshot WiFi connectivity issues in your home or workplace. I use it in order to find weak reception areas in the house and know where is the best place to use a Wi-Fi extender to boost the signal strength, like from the basement to my room in the second floor when I rent a room while traveling, making sure that I have good connectivity for work during my trip
