Wii Metroid Prime: Trilogy G43, 1st Campaign pt35: Samus Aran battles the most powerful Pirate yet!
I prepare to face the third mayor boss, an Omega Pirate. It not only carries at arsenal of weapons and abilities, it has the ability to call in reinforcement! Vid timeline:
(0:00) Intro and en route to Elite Quarters.
Grabbed another Missile Expansion on the way.
(7:58) Samus Aran vs Omega Pirate.
The overwhelming firepower of not just the Omega Pirate, but the smaller pirates ended up overwhelming me, causing me to lose control. To and insult to injury, avoiding the 3 patches of Phazon on the ground is next to impossible.
(15:53) 2nd try vs Omega Pirate.
Like the Elite Pirates, the Omega Pirate is armed with Claws and a Ground Slam for short range combat. Usually I managed to kill the former before they have a chance to use their back mounted weapon (Rocket Launcher like) for long range. What I would describe as an energy absorbent gauntlet is use to cancel me attack.
This bigger Pirate has weak points that must be taken out, before it goes into invisible mode. When this happens, reinforcements arrive. And while it's invisible, it teleports into one of the 3 patches of Phazon to regenerate it's weak parts. It is at the point that I must strike it's main vulnerable part hard.
By realizing I can drop Power Bombs to quickly blow it's bottoms parts quickly and mode quickly in Morph Ball to keep my distance, I was able to regain control. This allowed me to be in a fairly good position to aim for it's core, when it was exposed.
(24:00) Phazon Suit acquired.
I realized now what happened. The dead Omega Pirate fell on top of me. It's Phazon qualities somehow fused with Samus' suit. Hence with there was not power up to pick up.
(30:55) Fission Metroids arrive at Phazon Mines.
With the Pirate presence on the Phazon Mines now severely depleted, Metroids can now roam more freely.
However, I lost my orientation here, forgetting to pickup the Energy Tank before heading to get the Chozo Artifact.
(37:33) Artifact of Newborn acquired.
I'm now 5 artifacts short, which a don't see as good news because I'm running out of places to explore.
(47:02) Energy Tank at Processing Center Access.
I found myself coming back to Elite Quarters to proceed to Processing Center Access to pickup up what I forgot.
(58:30) Back at Magmoor Caverns and planning next move.
What's next? I of course remember the Red Door I ran into way back at Tallon Overworld. But there's still a small room at Phazon Mines still unexplored...
