Will the Nintendo Switch Mini be the NEW 3Ds? - Rant Video
There is lots of talk right now that we might get a follow up handheld to the Nintendo 3Ds but all I want is a Switch Mini. Do you think we will get a Nintendo Switch Pro, Mini, or at least some sort of cheaper version of the console? Let's rant about it!

The new president of Nintendo has commented on the possibility of making a new portable-only console to replace the 3DS. The 3DS is now over seven years old, and while portable consoles do often live a longer life than their under-the-TV brethren it’s been obvious from the lack of big name games that the portable is currently in the twilight of its career. Accepted wisdom is that the 3DS will not be replaced by any portable-only successor, and instead Nintendo will concentrate solely on the Switch. Especially after Nintendo made the effort to combine its portable and home console departments. But the first comments on the matter from new president Shuntaro Furukawa don’t really paint that picture at all, and instead he seems to leave open the possibility of creating a traditional follow-up.
In other words, the Switch is expensive and ideally Nintendo would also want to offer a lower cost alternative. Furukawa added that Nintendo is ‘considering various possibilities’ when it comes to a possible successor. Obviously that’s a purposefully vague statement, but at no point does he suggest that a new portable won’t be necessary because of the Switch.
