Software publishers install certain programs in the Windows startup queue. The programs may be 'helper' programs that make their software perform better or a program that automatically checks for updates to their program. Most of these are benign, but some can be slowing your system or even harmful.

Here's how to check the Task Manager for what programs are launching when Windows starts up. In addition here's how to identify those 'dubious' programs to see if they are dangerous or not.
Then you can either uninstall them, disable them or even edit the Registry to remove them from the startup queue.
