If you have installed a new version of Windows or maybe just installed or reinstalled an audio driver but now suffer from static or noise from your microphone or speakers, it's usually an easy fix.

Instead of installing new drivers, all you have to do is tweak your audio settings to eliminate that troublesome static.

Some people have asked for sound card and mic recommendations. I don't have a separate sound card anymore but I used to use Creative Labs Audigy. My mic is a condenser type. Here's a couple of links:
