Windows 10 Update Fails Every Time? Reset the Update and Start Again.
Sometimes when Windows 10 tries to download and install an update, you'll get an error message in the Settings app. Usually it will say something about trying again later. Even if you try it again, it might fail over and over.
Fortunately, there's a simple way to delete the bad update and start fresh. Here's how to get access to the update download directory (SoftwareDistribution folder) and either delete it or rename it. Windows 10 will download the update again and hopefully it will install correctly.
Here are the commands to use:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
And to start them up again:
net start wuauserv
net start bits
